ANTI-RAGGING

Ragging is a punishable offence under the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India has ordered all universities and their affiliated colleges under the University Grants Commission to state it clearly in their prospectus that if any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the authority, the student involving in ragging shall be given liberty to explain and if his/her explanation is not found satisfactory, the authority would expel him/her from the institution. (UGC letter No. F.1-8/2006 (CPP- II) February, 2008)

Ragging has caused immense harassment to many students in many campuses across the country. In Kharupetia College, the admission of a new student is always looked at with joy and with expectation rather than as an object of bullying, ridicule and harassment. Our students most willingly embrace the new students and help them adapt to the new surroundings. There is a frequent interaction between the students and the new entrants about the subjects and courses to opt for, a discussion about the college life and the facilities provided by our college.

Despite such a good record as for as ragging is concerned, our college has none-the less initiated a number of measures to keep ragging at bay.
  • Firstly, an anti ragging committee monitors the activities of the students.
  • Secondly, counseling sessions are undertaken to create awareness among the students and their parents.
  • Thirdly, incase of any instance of ragging, a parent teacher meeting will be convened.
  • Fourthly, our students are kept informed about the rules, regulations and zero-tolerance policy towards ragging.
  • Lastly, stern action leading to the suspension of a student will be undertaken if found indulging in any ragging activity.
